What is social roots in Spain?

Social roots are a temporary residence permit for exceptional circumstances that allows the regularization of foreigners who have lived in Spain continuously for at least 2 years old and have family ties or They present a report that certifies their social integration issued by the Autonomous Community.

Who can apply for social roots?

Requirements for applying for social roots in Spain

  • Not being an EU citizen or a family member to whom the EU regime applies.

  • Have no criminal record in Spain or in any other country where you have resided in the last 5 years.

  • Not be prohibited from entering Spain or listed as inadmissible to the Schengen area

  • Not being subject to a non-return commitment following a voluntary return program.

  • Have lived continuously in Spain for at least 2 years.

  • Have a signed employment contract that guarantees at least the minimum interprofessional wage or the amount established by the collective bargaining agreement.

  • If the employer is an individual, they must prove income above the IPREM after paying the salary.

  • Proof of family ties with legal residents in Spain and sufficient financial means, or a favorable social integration report issued by the autonomous community or city council.
